Inspired

Prairie Poppins is doing a handmade holidays again. And she has been posting lots of links to ideas for things to make. The other day, in one of my bits of procrastinating by futzing around on the internet, I clicked one and was inspired.

table runner in progress  (click to make it bigger)

I decided to make a table runner for my mom. I did half the embroidery yesterday. I think I’ll start on the other half as soon as I finish this post. Then I need to take it with me to the fabric store and rummage through the remnants bin to see if I can find some gold or green fabric to back it with. I’m thinking there will be about a 1″ border of the backing on this side. It’ll be rectangular and designed to sit in the centre of the table, not dropping over the ends.

The thread is silk warp ends that I bought from a place in Vancouver that sold beautiful hand-woven silk scarves and things. I’m quite pleased with how this is turning out.

This is lovely! I used to really enjoy embroidery when I was in my early 20s, but got away from it. What a great portable craft.

Can’t wait to see the finished project!
